Job Title: KILN OPERATOR

Department:: Manufacturing

Duration: Permanent

Responsible to: Manufacturing Manager

Responsible for: Operating pressure cast machine and sponging clay product.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for loading and unloading the kiln correctly and evenly with ware.
• Setting and running the kilns
• To record counts and losses
• Safley managing the end of the firing cycle, allowing the kiln and the fired items to cool.
• To report any malfunctions.
• To recognise faults created
• Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed
• Ensure working environment is clean and safe at all times

Scope of Job:

Progression to team leader for correct applicant if required.

Other requirements & responsibilities:

Shift contract for 12 hour shifts, days and nights on 4 on 4 off basis including weekends. 05:00 -17:00 x 4 / 4 off / 17:00 – 05:00 x 4 ( 2 x 20 min breaks)

For the 1st 2 weeks you will work the days shift – Monday to Friday for training purposes.

Salary: From £12.25 per hour. Raising to £12.55 within the first 6 months.

If you are already a skilled Kiln operator the starting rate will be £12.55

Overtime available.
